Visitors to the KC Designs booth at JCK Las Vegas expect to see myriad little initial pendants and cutesy motifs like flowers, but the New York City–based manufacturer is committing to a particular earring category in a big way this year. Enter the Climb On Up ear climber collection.
“Celebrities and fashion authorities alike are wearing these everywhere,” explains Lenny Krol, president. “It’s becoming more than just a trend and has appeal to a wide variety of women. I believe it has some real staying power as a jewelry staple.”
The collection has 15 different SKUs in 14k white, yellow, and rose gold and will evolve based on customer reaction and demand. Some styles will have diamonds, and retail prices start at just $475.
All are for pierced ears, and elongated or heavier looks have long thin hooks for support, keeping tops stationed in upward effects by clinging to ear cartilage. (Smaller styles don’t need them because they’ll stay put.) Ear climbers also serve double duty as linear drops when positioned downward from the lobe, making them versatile as well as modern and fun.
And while it officially debuts at JCK, Krol says he’s already shipping pieces to stores based on reactions from pre-Vegas mailings and email blasts. There is no minimum buy-in, but he suggests stocking a small collection for shoppers to choose from and try on.
