Johnson Matthey announced that it has agreed to divest its gold and silver refining business to Asahi Holdings for $186 million.
Johnson Matthey will retain its platinum group metals refining business, says spokesperson Sally Jones.
Tokyo-based Asahi is a metals refiner and recycler.
The transaction will close by March 2015, a statement said.
