Over the weekend, a new design collaboration landed on John Hardy’s website and in select boutiques: Mad Love, a capsule in reclaimed 14k gold and sterling silver, marks the second time the jewelry house has partnered with its longtime muse Adwoa Aboah, the British model and actress.
Perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day, the 14-piece collection incorporates heart motifs that originate from Aboah’s freehand sketches, and that nod to her multiple heart tattoos. Together, the designs point to Aboah’s singular mode of self-expression, which hinges on acceptance of oneself and others—flaws and all.
Through hands-on design sessions, Aboah and the John Hardy design team paired these inspirations with the jeweler’s classic chain, one of the house’s most enduring and recognizable icons.
“It was important for me to work closely with John Hardy on this collection,” said Aboah in the official announcement. “Each design tells a meaningful story and can be given to a loved one or to yourself. I love getting jewelry for myself and the independence that it represents. Mad Love says what I can’t put into words: how much I care about that person or community. It’s my sign-off for everything.”
“Radical inclusivity and unapologetic individuality are central to the John Hardy ethos,” added John Hardy CEO Kareem Gahed in the same statement. “Adwoa embodies these values through her self-expression and in how she shows up for her community. Mad Love is a homage to that beautiful tenacity.”
As you’ll see below, the pieces lend themselves to stacking and layering, mixing in well with other styles, especially within an existing wardrobe of John Hardy jewelry.
