JIS Temporarily Relocating to Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in 2017

The move is due to the Miami Beach Convention Center’s extensive renovation

The Miami Beach Convention Center, home to the Jewelers International Showcase (JIS), is set to undergo a thrilling $596 million remodel during the first half of 2017. During this time, JIS Miami (pictured) will temporarily relocate to the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center for the shows taking place January 27–29, 2017, and April 8–10, 2017. The Fort Lauderdale location is 30 miles north of Miami Beach.

The Miami Beach Convention Center renovation is expected to add 290,000 square feet to the 1.2 million-square-foot venue, with the notable addition of a 60,000-square-foot grand ballroom. The JIS October 2017 show is scheduled to return to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“Miami Beach will always be home to JIS, but the change to Fort Lauderdale for these two shows will be considerably appealing for our customers,” said JIS industry vice president Jordan Tuchband in a press release. “The Fort Lauderdale Convention Center is a modern venue in a great location: Easy to travel to, with a number of nearby hotels, and large enough to handle these two JIS shows. It is well known for consistently exceeding visitors’ expectations with its five-star food service, upgraded technology, and customer service, and is only five minutes from Florida’s Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Fort Lauderdale is also recognized for its beaches, shopping, and restaurants. In 2017, attendees and exhibitors should definitely plan to enjoy these amenities while in town for JIS.”

“As the long-time general manager here at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, both the team I represent and myself are thrilled to play host to two such high-profile jewelry trade events in our facility,” said Mark Gatley, also in a press release. “Further, hosting any Reed Exhibitions event is truly an honor for our team and our destination. Our facility has hosted well over 6,500 events from all facets of business since opening in late September of 1991. We firmly believe that our exciting destination and our beautiful venue, being so centrally located between Palm Beach and Miami, will act as an extraordinary drawing card to the many interested businesses, and we look forward to serving them all.”
