JIC to host Gem Awards in January

The Jewelry Information Center’s third annual Gem Awards gala will be held Jan. 7, 2005, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Four awards will be presented to the members of the jewelry industry and the consumer press during the black-tie event. The recipients will be recognized for their exceptional efforts to stimulate consumer demand for jewelry and build the industry’s image.

Award recipients are as follows:

* Richard Lennox and the Diamond Group at J. Walter Thompson will receive an award for the Diamond Trading Co.’s “A Diamond is Forever,” marketing campaign.

* Hal Rubenstein InStyle magazine fashion director, will receive an award for “making jewelry an essential part of Hollywood glamour.”

* Roberta Myers, ELLE magazine editor-in-chief, will receive an award for the magazines coverage of fine jewelry and watches.

* Herb and Bob Bridge of Ben Bridge Jewelry, Seattle, will receive a special Lifetime Achievement Award.

Seating at Cipriani is limited and the event is expected to sell out. Early reservation letters have been sent to attendees and sponsors of the previous Gem Awards event. Invitations will be mailed to all JIC members this fall. Those interested in attending or sponsoring the event can contact JIC at 800-459-0130 or e-mail info@jic.org.
