As a retailer, you may be in the midst of the holiday rush, or you may just be bracing for the inevitable 11th–hour shopper—depends on how well in advance your customers plan, really—but either way, you’ve probably given some thought to the best, most giftable items your store has in stock this year.
While every customer is different, each with their own budgets, tastes, and loved ones to buy for, there are a few general ideas that may appeal to all of them.
Those in the market for gifts for millennials and Gen Zers might find the perfect fit in a collection of fashion-forward earrings, think studs with a whimsical twist, huggies strung with dangling charms, and classic, never-fail hoops of all sizes.
A sentimental choice remains the pendant, with a more current vibe looking like a medallion or some form of initial style, though your mileage will vary depending on customer segment, particularly where the initials are concerned.
Steering your shoppers in the direction of “in style, but classic,” will ensure a successful choice for their giftees that will be worn well beyond 2020 (and even if it isn’t, styles always come back again, don’t they?).
And then, of course, there are my favorite kind of holiday purchases that I recall as a retailer—the extravagant ones that I like to imagine someone unwrapping on Christmas morning (we really should require they record or photograph a reaction so we can all enjoy it, shouldn’t we?). These are your one-of-a-kind, high-carat, rare gemstone, and painstakingly handcrafted pieces. All too good to resist (if they’re in the budget, that is).
At this point in the year you won’t be stocking too many new items, but odds are you have, if not these exact jewels, similar styles in store. These are some of my favorite items that I truly feel spark joy and would make anyone a happy giftee this holiday season.
