The Coolest Jewels Spotted at NYFW 2019 Events (via Instagram)

Labor Day has come and gone, and, as expected, the autumn bug has begun to bite. Sure, the calendar date doesn’t quite make it official, but the fact that it’s September means it’s time to start strutting those fall duds.

For inspiration, New York Fashion Week is the place to look for new and exciting ways to get dressed this season (just be sure to look everywhere but the runway, as the clothes are geared toward spring and summer 2020). Jewelry, on the other hand, being relatively seasonless, can be sourced from anywhere.

I love seeing the jewelry that comes down the runway, because it lends an idea of what is to come in the months that lie ahead—if not in exact fashion, then at least in bits and pieces. But for true, let-me-copy-that-this-moment style, the street is where you want to cast your eyes.

If you think you know every possible way to wear jewelry, there will always be something new to surprise you in street-style land. Here is where people come to see and be seen (there, and the front rows of the fashion shows), so there’s always a wide range of styles to grab onlookers’ attention. From demure and polished to maximalist to the extreme, there’s no right or wrong way to do it—there’s only your way to do it—and that is a thing of beauty.

While I wish I could be curbside to witness the throng of fashion’s elite flocking to the latest displays, Instagram will have to do—and it does quite well. From star silhouettes to extreme looks that lend an idea of the styles to start stocking (so far it looks like tennis-style line and fringe jewelry and ear climbers), here are some of my favorite bejeweled styles to hit the runways, streets, and social media feeds during NYFW (so far).
