Fine jewelry was among the strongest items for JCPenney in December, according
to the company’s financial statement.

The retailer’s top-selling items included fashion watches and sterling silver
jewelry.

Other highlights of JCPenney’s December sales results (ended Jan.1):

• Comparable store sales: up 3.7 percent

• Overall sales: $2.9 billion, up 2.3 percent
