Jewelry Salesman Shot During Holdup

Two men held up and shot a jewelry salesman Wednesday afternoon outside his store in Salt Lake City, Utah, according to media reports.

The incident occurred at AAA Jewelers at about 5 p.m., according to various reports. Police say the man—identified as the co-owner, according to the Deseret News newspaper—was carrying a duffel bag with jewelry outside the store, possibly to his car.

The two suspected thieves ordered him to the ground and fired up to three shots, one of which grazed the man’s chin, according to various reports. The thieves ran away with the bag of jewelry. The value of the jewelry was not released.

The victim was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.

The men, who are still at large, are both believed to be Hispanic, about 5-foot 5 inches tall with medium builds. Police reportedly say the robbers left in a dark-colored SUV with no license plates.
