The Jewelry Information Center, the nonprofit trade association that educates consumers about fine jewelry and watches, has recently added a series of informal “vlogs” (video blogs) to the organization’s Web site. The vlogs, which will be updated throughout the year, will cover a range of industry topics and trends.
With the new vlog site, JIC members, manufacturers, and retailers, as well as consumers, can get a bird’s-eye view of JIC staff members, as they explore trends, set up for consumer TV segments, and chat about industry topics or projects in the works.
JIC said it decided to use the vlog as a new means to reach out to manufacturing and retail members, while educating consumers in a straightforward, uncomplicated format. The new vlogs invite interactivity as well, by allowing viewers to give instant feedback through posting comments about the topic covered. Additionally, the vlogs, featuring JIC staff members discussing the latest trends, can be downloaded as short videos by retailers to show in stores before gift-giving holidays. JIC said these trend reports will provide in-store excitement, while helping retailers link the products they sell in their jewelry cases to the trends identified by JIC’s expert forecasters.
