Alan Joseph Katz, whose long career in retail jewelry included work for Zale Corp., Friedman’s Jewelers, and deBoulle Diamond & Jewelry, died on Aug. 22, at age 69.
Katz worked in the jewelry industry for almost 50 years in various management, marketing and merchandising capacities. Since 2006, he had beenwith Dallas-based jeweler deBoulle Diamond & Jewelry, where he served as vice president of operations.
“Alan was truly a great man that had a passion for the industry,” said Denis Boulle, CEO of deBoulle Diamond & Jewelry, in a statement. “Everyone at deBoulle will miss his strong work ethic, dedication and sense of humor.”
Survivors include his wife, Alice Katz; daughter, Michele Katz Rummel; son, Blair Douglas Katz; mother, Shirley Katz; brother, Irvin S. Katz; grandchildren, Madeline and Emmie Rummel; and niece, Julie Katz Schoper.
