This week, we’re having happy hour over diamonds and vintage Rolex watches in midtown Manhattan, worshipping with the Women’s Jewelry Association at Temple St. Clair in SoHo, and then it’s off to London to hunt for jeweled masterpieces by the likes of Verdura, Van Cleef & Arpels, and more.
Rocks & Rolex Event: June 25
The first in a planned series of New York City–area happy hour gatherings with a charity tie-in, the Rocks & Rolex event will feature curated estate jewelry, collectible vintage Rolex watches, and more must-see enticements. It’s cohosted by Diamond Runway, Cappello Communications, and Aaron Faber Gallery, where the event will take place. Attendees will have the chance to pick up expert tips and knowledge—especially when it comes to investing in important antique timepieces—while ogling all manner of gorgeousness including this Fighting Vipers diamond ring by Anthony Lent. Admission is free, but your RSVP is required.
WJA Metro Meet the Designer Event: June 26
Renown designer Temple St. Clair is inviting Women’s Jewelry Association members to her NYC atelier for an evening of inspirational conversation about jewelry brand building. For the uninitiated, St. Clair founded her company in Florence, Italy, beginning her partnership with the Florentine Jewelers Guild, and the artistry of her collections reference this classical foundation. Her jewelry celebrates an ongoing quest for the rarest stones in the world, including her signature blue moonstones, which she’s been working with for 20 years and counting. Admission is $30 and limited to 25 attendees.
Masterpiece London: June 27–July 3
Held at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, the London edition of this high-end arts fair kicks off on Thursday. Jewelry retailers and collectors from across the pond will find no shortage of temptations: Last year JCK spotlighted contemporary designer Cindy Chao’s debut at the show and she returns this year alongside other well-known names like Verdura/Herz-Belperron, Wartski, and Simon Teakle. Antique and estate jewels lead the fair’s jewelry contingent, but new works by Chao, Grima Jewellery (pictured at top), Moussaieff, and other contemporary jewelry artists are a welcome addition to the mix.
