It joins peridot
Jewelers of America (JA) has begun a consumer marketing campaign to announce spinel as an official birthstone of August.
The campaign includes print media, online and social media platforms, radio segments, email distribution, and a consumer sweepstakes to win a pair of gold and red spinel earrings by Carelle (pictured).
JA collaborated with the American Gem Trade Association to make spinel the second official birthstone of August; peridot is the first.
