Jewelers of America has named three nominees for the media excellence category of its annual GEM Awards: Kyle Anderson, Rachel Garrahan, and JCK’s own Rob Bates.

Jewelers of America has named three nominees for the media excellence category of its annual GEM Awards: Kyle Anderson, Rachel Garrahan, and JCK’s own Rob Bates.

Anderson is the market and accessories director of Marie Claire. He was previously the senior accessories editor at Elle, and he is celebrated for his sense of style and sense of humor. 

Garrahan is a freelance journalist specializing in jewelry and watches. She has published work in the Financial Times, The New York Times, T Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, and the Jewellery Editor.

Bates, of course, is the news director at JCK. He specializes in reporting on and analysis of the diamond industry and the high-volume retail sector and writes the popular (and Jesse H. Neal Award-winning) blog Cutting Remarks. He has been reporting on the industry for more than 20 years and has been quoted in The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and on National Public Radio. 

Winners will be announced at the GEM Awards ceremony on Jan. 8 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.
