Business insureds with Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company can save 5 to 20 percent when sending insured shipments through Parcel Pro, Inc. The new rates begin Oct. 1.

Jewelers Mutual has had a relationship with Parcel Pro since 2003—identifying it as an excellent option for shipping and insuring high-value merchandise, JM said in a statement.

“While we continue to recommend the United States Postal Service, we recognize that it does not meet the needs of all of our customers, especially in this increasingly global market,” said Darin Kath, the JM’s president and chief operating officer. “Since we began our strategic alliance with Parcel Pro three years ago, they have provided an unrivaled level of service. They track shipments for added safety, provide secured delivery to the New York City and Los Angeles jewelry districts, and insure international shipments.”

Shipment losses with Parcel Pro do not affect jewelers’ loss experience on jewelers block policies, providing another advantage to this service, JM said. Within the United States, the Parcel Pro discount applies to shipping and insurance for packages sent via United Parcel Service, which is Parcel Pro’s preferred provider for high-value shipments. The amount of the discount varies based on the geographic shipping zone and the type of UPS service.  

Within Canada and for international shipments, the discount applies to only the insurance portion and is available for Federal Express, as well as UPS shipments. For carriers other than UPS, Parcel Pro offers Jewelers Mutual business customers a discount for the insurance charges, but offers no discount for shipping costs.  

Jewelers Mutual business insureds can sign up at Parcel Pro’s Web site, www.parcelpro.com, or by calling (888) 683-2300. Insureds automatically receive the discounted rate if they enter “Jewelers Mutual” as the carrier on the application. Current Parcel Pro customers who insure with Jewelers Mutual can contact Parcel Pro to verify their discount. Parcel Pro customers can process shipments online directly at the Parcel Pro Web site.
