Jewelers Mutual CEO Scott Murphy to Retire

Share

Jewelers Mutual Group announced that chief executive officer Scott Murphy will retire at the end of 2026 after leading the company for 12 years. The insurer and business services provider said Mike Alexander, currently president, will succeed Murphy as president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2027.

Murphy (pictured, top) joined Jewelers Mutual in January 2015 and oversaw its expansion from a specialty insurance provider into a broader business focused on insurance, technology, data analytics, and other services for the jewelry industry. The company said it now serves more than 2 million customers in the United States and Canada and expanded into Australia last year through its acquisition of Jewellers Loop.

In a statement, Murphy said leading Jewelers Mutual “has been the greatest honor of my career.”

“The jewelry industry is filled with remarkable people who pour their passion, creativity, and craftsmanship into everything they do, and it has been a privilege to serve them. I am proud of what our team has built.”

Alexander joined Jewelers Mutual in 2015 and was promoted to president in 2025. The company said he’s played a key role in executing its growth strategy, including helping introduce the JM Care Plan and overseeing the integration of Jewellers Loop.

As CEO, he is expected to focus on expanding into new markets, strengthening digital and technology capabilities, and broadening the company’s offerings for jewelers and consumers.

“I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead,” Alexander said in a statement. “Scott has built an extraordinary foundation—a company with clear purpose, a strong culture, and a bold vision for the future.”

Murphy will remain on the company’s board of directors.

Robert Reeg, chair of the Jewelers Mutual board, credited Murphy with helping transform the company. “We are equally confident in Mike’s ability to lead Jewelers Mutual into its next chapter,” Reeg said. “His vision and steady hand give the board great optimism for what’s ahead.”
