Jewelers Mutual Announces Program for Jewelers Traumatized by Crime

Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company has announced a new program called RELI(E)VE, which will serve jewelers who have been traumatized by crime.

The program is in partnership with Ceridian LifeWorks, a crisis-support service provider that works in the U.S. and Canada, and will provide support services to Jewelers Mutual–insured businesses and their employees and family members following traumatic events that lead to filing a JM insurance claim. The benefit will be included with all Jewelers Mutual plans.

Services provided will include phone counseling, private in-person appointments, and on-site appointments.

The name, RELI(E)VE, is a representation of the program’s mission: “to help jewelers relieve the stress and other symptoms of trauma,” the company said in a statement.

“We’re all familiar with stories of the individual who walks away from an automobile accident saying he is fine, when in reality he has a bad concussion or a broken bone,” said Joseph Utecht, master counselors manager for Ceridian LifeWorks. “In the immediate aftermath, the shock of the event and rush of adrenaline temporarily mask the injury. Psychological injury can be the same, but sometimes with a longer delay before the individual realizes he is struggling to cope with what happened.”

More information, including signs of psychological trauma, is available at jewelersmutual.com.
