The Jewelers Circle Debuts New Platform Features and Events

While certainly filling a niche—one dedicated to the jewelry industry—the Jewelers Circle’s new private, secure online global trading platform is part e-business, part social. It gives participants—retailers and wholesalers, or dealers—the ability to meet and do business virtually in one place, sourcing all manner of jewelry and loose gemstones, and also allows them to network and attend webinar-style educational sessions.

“In this new era of wholesale commerce, we are thrilled to be providing digital solutions to advance our industry through highly tailored sourcing and platform enhancements, relevant education, relationship-driving opportunities, as well as forging partnerships with esteemed organizations,” said co-founder and managing director Marianne Fisher in a statement. “Our platform enables retailers and industry professionals to discover, connect, and ultimately transact without platform commissions in a way that would normally take place at traditional live market events.”

The debut of the platform comes after a series of live event cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides jewelers with a way to do business and maintain connections within the industry. Now, the Jewelers Circle has announced additional functions to its platform, including new products and a schedule of webinars.

Set to debut in late January, the new functions to the platform will include the addition of loose gemstones and diamonds, the inclusion of which will be enhanced by new sorting and filter functions, as well as the ability to save products to a watch list. Users can also post requests for specific products, sending the calls to a list of preferred dealers or to the platform’s entire network. In addition, a new limited bidding feature will spotlight certain products for 24 hours as users submit offers; the highest bidder will have the ability to purchase directly from the exhibitor.

The Jewelers Circle will also host a series of webinars specifically dedicated to certain events that have recently been canceled. The upcoming South Beach + South West virtual event, for instance, honors January’s Miami antique shows and February’s Tucson gem week.

On Thurs., Jan. 28, South Beach Webinar: Antique & Designer Jewelry Focus will host “Show and Tell: The Power of Style With Jewelry Historian Vivienne Becker,” an exclusive presentation in which jewelry historian Becker will navigate through the Jewelers Circle platform on the hunt for jewels from different eras. Expect tales from history as the jeweler touches on notes of fashion, society, and more. The webinar begins at 10 a.m. ET, and participants can register here.

Then on Wed., Feb. 3, the South West Webinar: Colored Gemstones Focus will host “Colored Gemstone Trends 2021,” a discussion with JCK’s own Amy Elliott and vice president of B & B Fine Gems Dave Bindra. The webinar begins at 10 a.m. ET, and registration can be found here.

Finally, the Jewelers Circle has announced a slew of new industry partnerships with organizations including the Diamond Manufacturers & Importers of America (DIMA), International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), Picup Media, Willis Towers Watson, Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF), Ferrari Shipping, Natural Color Diamond Association (NCDIA), GemGèneve, and the Jewels and Gems Society of Singapore.
