Jeweler Howard Isman Dies at 93

Howard Isman, co-founder of Royal City Jewellers and Loans,
New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, died Aug. 12 at the age of 93.

Isman served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World
War II and founded Royal City Jewellers and Loans Ltd., on Columbia Street in
New Westminster in 1955 with his wife, Marjorie, who he married in 1943.

He organized an annual Tie Day fund raiser, which auctioned
neckties signed by celebrities in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
He was also an accomplished musician who played saxophone and clarinet in a
band he founded and was a lifetime member of the Musicians Union of America.

Isman is survived by sons Michael (Pam) and Murray (Susie)
and grandchildren Carly and Adam.
