A Colorado Springs, Colo., jeweler narrowly escaped an attempted robbery upon closing his store on Dec. 24.
According to the police report, at approximately 10 p.m., a masked man approached owner Ed McNulty at McNulty Jewelers and threatened him with a weapon in his
pocket. The suspect allegedly told McNulty his family was in danger if he didn’t
comply with his demands.
McNulty told the suspect to back off and revealed that
he was armed. The owner also pursued the suspect as he attempted to flee. The
thief threw rocks at McNulty, who suffered a minor injury to his hand,
according to police.
The masked man jumped in a white Ford F-150, almost hitting McNulty.
In response, McNulty fired his weapon twice, believing he hit the
suspect’s truck twice.
Police do not know if the would-be thief was injured and are continuing an investigation.
