Jen’s Obsession: Yunysha’s Indian Earrings in Gold With Diamonds and South Sea Pearls

Who says that slightly traditional Indian jewelry styles won’t sell stateside? Certainly not Amish Kothari, a principal behind Indian jewelry-maker Yunysha. I met Kothari at the India International Jewellery Show this week, where he showed me a variety of Indian-inspired—though not entirely traditional—jewels that he wants to sell directly to American consumers. His reasoning? They’re gorgeous! I agree with him that the earrings are stunning and that American women would want to buy them. Like one interview subject told me years ago, women like beautiful things—and these 22k gold, enamel, South Sea Pearl, and polki or rose-cut diamond earrings certainly fit the bill. I’ll be wish-listing these for a possible future acquisition.
