Jennifer Garner was one of twelve women recently awarded the honor of “Woman of the Year” by Glamour in New York City.

Garner took home the title of “the Icon Next Door,” which is kind of a perfect fit when you read interviews like this:

GLAMOUR: Your press is impeccable. Your fans adore you. Do you have a dark side, or are you a goody-goody?

JENNIFER GARNER: You totally called me out. I am a bit of a goody-goody. Not that there aren’t times when I think, I was kind of an as***le today. I work in a world in which people are really catered to; someone will come up to me and say, “Is it OK if this person’s makeup is done before yours for the premiere?” Right now Ben’s in Africa studying malaria and visiting slums with a lack of potable water and maternity wards where many women have HIV. So would I really put my energy into worrying that I’m second to get my makeup done? When you think about the bigger picture, it’s hard to not have some perspective.

Garner wore H.Stern’s Neptune diamond cuff, from the red carpet collection. The Neptune diamond cuff is made of 18k Noble Gold, features cognac and white diamonds, and is valued at $430,000.

Garner also wore a pair of Maharani ruby, pearl, and diamond earrings valued at $14,000.

Oh and lest we forget, the dress was by Oscar … Oscar de la Renta

Now, do me a favor and click on the image of Garner for closer inspection.

Ok, go …

The earrings are great, and  I really like the faceting of the rubies, but I think that they are deceptively large. This is a danger for women with small lobes / long faces. You don’t want something that is going to stretch your lobe down to your clavicles or detract from your best asset, your face (period).

The picture of the earrings alone doesn’t make them seem that big, but on Garner they detract from her eyes and smile. I love them on their own and think that the ruby/diamond/pearl combo was very daring (not to mention a steal [not for me, but for someone I’m sure] for the price).

For someone else they would work very well, but with Garner I think that they are a miss.

Now the cuff … is perfect for this look.

The dress has a fun tribal hint to it with the patterning and thw way that the white diamonds are placed on top of the cuff reinforces that motif. I think it was a great choice.

For those on a budget, The Alex Woo Vida Diamond Cuff will do you just as well. The Vida Diamond Cuff, was inspired by the canopy of the tropical rain forest of Costa Rica. The14k yellow gold signifies the leaves overhead, while the diamonds represent the sun shining through. Retail price is $9,428.
