Jean-Marc Lieberherr has been appointed managing director of Rio Tinto’s diamond division.
He was most recently the division’s chief commercial officer. He joined the division in 2005, starting in the marketing department.
In addition, Kim Truter, who previously held senior positions at the Argyle and Diavik mines, had been appointed chief operating officer for the diamonds division.
Rio Tinto had looked into divesting its diamond division—which has interests in the Argyle, Divaik, and Murowa mines—but in June decided not to sell it.
