JCKonline Exclusive: Market Report, Jewelry to Accessorize Spring RTW 2011

Spring 2011 fashion features relaxed silhouettes and romantic styles.

Shaking off the sequins, gold fabric, and other
embellished accents of fall fashion, designers exhibiting at the recently held
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week showed largely soft,
romantic, and flowing attire (and comfy shoes!) for spring 2011 ready to wear. Neck- and hemlines ranged widely—from the all-buttoned-up blazers at Donna Karan to the silky short shorts at Vera Wang. While in the color department, the occasional jewel tone did surface (à la Marc Jacobs and Z by Zac Posen), whites, neutrals, and
pastels ruled overall.
For jewelers, the trends mean stocking up on long pendant necklaces, muted
shades of gemstones like aquamarine, morganite, and green amethyst, and
stacking bracelets and rings. And with metals—like skirt lengths and collar types—consider a healthy
mix of all styles: matte, high polish, silver, gold, and two tone.

Trend: Sherbet Shades (buttercup and ivory and soft pinks
and blues)
Jewelry: Complementary
pastel-colored stones like aquamarine and rose de France or metal-intense
pieces
