Other signs that the fall season is most definitely upon us include auction sales and previews that scream: “So long, summer. It was nice knowing ya!”

Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong 2025: Sept. 15–21

Asia’s largest jewelry trade fair kicks off tomorrow, when Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong opens at AsiaWorld-Expo. Home to dealers of loose diamonds and gems as well as pearls, the event runs through Sept. 19. From Sept. 17 to 21, purveyors of finished jewelry, packaging, and tools and equipment will showcase their wares at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. All eyes are on this important barometer of the market.

The FAB Paris art fair opens under the dome of the City of Light’s Grand Palais this week. In addition to gallerists specializing in fine art and design, you’ll find high-end jewelers with distinct points of view, including Lydia Courteille, Silvia Furmanovich, Isabelle Langlois, and Seaman Schepps.

Sotheby’s Jewelry Auction Preview in Hong Kong: Sept. 13–18

Highlights from Sotheby’s Dec. 8 live sale, “A Legacy of Elegance: Jewels from an Exceptional Collection,” go on view in Hong Kong. The landmark single-owner sale includes outstanding pieces with a focus on the top Parisian houses, including Cartier, Boivin, and Boucheron. The core of the collection is formed by avant-garde designs by two of the most visionary artist-jewelers of the modern era: Suzanne Belperron and Joel Arthur Rosenthal (JAR).

That refers to jewels that bear a maker’s mark or signature of the designer, manufacturer, or house behind the jewelry. Think jewels from renowned houses such as Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Harry Winston.
