JDPN Webinar on Ethical Mining: Oct. 11, 7 p.m. ET (online)

The Jewelry Design Professionals Network (JDPN) hosts a webinar this week on “The Adventures of Ethical Mining of Australian Opals and Sapphires” with Ian Bone of Capricorn Gems in Queensland, Australia. Bone will discuss his efforts to promote ethical mining and source, cut, and market gemstones from the region through responsible channels.
Conversations in Park City: Oct. 13–15 (in person)

The jewelry industry’s answer to a TED talk, Conversations in Park City is back for its second year. Organized by the Jewelers Mutual Group, the two-day event brings together a diverse group of executives for a weekend of networking, learning, and other activities at the spectacular St. Regis Hotel in Deer Valley, Utah. The agenda, developed by trends futurist and practitioner Jeff Weiner and leaders from inside and outside the jewelry business, is designed to get attendees thinking about topics that will affect the next year, and the next generation, of jewelry retail.

PAD London: Oct. 10–15 (in person)

Founded in 2007 by fourth-generation Parisian antiques dealer Patrick Perrin, PAD London is the only fair in the U.K. exclusively dedicated to 20th-century and contemporary design. Taking place on Berkeley Square, in the heart of London’s affluent Mayfair district, PAD London will showcase the work of some of the 21st-century’s most daring jewelers, including Boghossian, Hemmerle, and Taffin.
San Francisco Show: Oct. 12–15 (in person)

The San Francisco Fall Show is the leading international art, antiques, and design fair on the West Coast. Founded in 1982, it offers fine and decorative arts, including paintings, furniture, precious metals, ceramics, jewelry, rugs, photography, works on paper, books, and ethnographic art, representing all styles and periods. Jewelry dealers include the Israeli brand Yvel as well as estate specialists DK Farnum and Kentshire Galleries.
JIS Fall Show in Miami: Oct. 13–16 (in person)

Manufacturers, wholesalers, and brands will participate—and hunt for deals—in the JIS Fall Show, formerly JIS October, based at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The show occurs right in time for the holidays, one of the most important restocking seasons, with many exhibitors offering their best pricing specials of the year.
