We’re easing into fall with an important industrywide conference in India, a sparkling exhibition of art jewels in Dubai, and an auction of historic masterpieces in New York.

CIBJO Conference in Jaipur, India: Oct. 3–5 (in person)

Delegates to the World Jewellery Confederation gather in the famed “Pink City” of Jaipur this week to attend the 2023 CIBJO Congress, taking place at the Fairmont Jaipur by Accor Hotel. The capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan is a major gem and jewelry center, and a natural meeting place for delegates to discuss amendments to the organization’s definitive directories of international industry standards )known as the Blue Books) for diamonds, colored stones, pearls, gem labs, precious metals, coral, and responsible sourcing. Topics of note this year include CIBJO’s ongoing cooperation with the United Nations and its commitment to the UN’s sustainable development goals.

“Explorations in Fine Jewelry,” an exhibition of jewels by Mumbai-based Studio Renn, begins its monthlong residency at Sotheby’s Dubai this week. The brand’s first foray into the Middle East, the display will consist of a 50-piece oeuvre curated in conjunction with Paul Redmayne, vice president of luxury sales at Sotheby’s. Founders Rahul and Roshni Jhaveri will be at the gallery until Oct. 6. Catch them if you can!

Rothschild Masterpieces—a series of auctions at Christie’s New York featuring art, furniture, jewelry, watches, and decorative objects from one of the great collecting families in history—kicks off with an online sale this week. Talk about the gilded age!
