The East Coast’s answer to the Oscars, aka the Met Gala, is tomorrow night. With its “The Garden of Time” dress code, the annual black-tie extravaganza benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute promises, as always, to bring the glam. The 92NY Center For Culture & Arts kicks off its series on “Virtual Jewelry Platforms and Their Creators” on May 7 with PR and communications maven Valery Demure in conversation with Jonathan Wahl, director of the Jewelry Center at the 92nd Street Y. The series, which features Adventurine founder Marion Fasel on May 14 and advertising expert Eliane de Luca Peres on May 21, looks at how these influential creators developed their online platforms, what has changed in the world of jewelry and retail, and how they curate their content.

The GemGenève International Gem & Jewellery Show opens in Geneva on Thursday.
