The deadline to apply to the Rejewelry Competition organized by Radical Jewelry Makeover (RJM) is this Thursday. Participants will make jewelry from donated materials, in a competition designed to raise awareness of how mining, metalsmithing, activism, collaboration, and art are connected. Makers compete in “revitalizing materials that were produced with the intent to be worn as jewelry,” RJM says, adding: “Part of the challenge…is to engage in a conversation about jewelry with ‘raw materials’ sourced from donations.”
