Symposium ’24 in New York City: March 10–11 (in person)

At this exclusive two-day, retailer-focused educational forum, invited guests will have the chance to attend insightful seminars and learn case studies across the categories of business, marketing, product, and trends. Presented by the Plumb Club and JCK Events and sponsored by Jewelers Mutual, the event is headlined by keynote speaker Lori Greiner, a self-made entrepreneur and inventor, and a Shark on ABC’s Emmy-winning reality show Shark Tank.

MJSA Expo in New York City: March 10-12 (in person)

The MJSA Expo returns to Manhattan’s Javits Center with dozens of exhibitors and new features such as the Tool Testing & Techniques Zone, billed as a “playground for jewelers.” A robust lineup of programming, from jewelry-cleaning demos to informative talks on colored gemstone trends, will take place throughout the show in the MJSA Café.

Gemology Geek Instagram Live Series: March 12, 14, 16, 8:30 p.m. (online)

Throughout March, in celebration of Women’s History Month, Erica Silverglide (aka Gemology Geek) is hosting a series of Instagram Live conversations with inspiring women in the jewelry industry. This week she welcomes Shelly Sergent, curator, Somewhere in the Rainbow (March 12); jade expert Jordan Wentz (March 14); and Adrianne Sanogo, gem and fine jewelry expert and cofounder of the Black in Jewelry Coalition (March 16).

NAJA Virtual Conference: March 16, 12–4 p.m. ET (online)

In this half-day, livestreamed conference, the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers will present four webinars specific to organic gem materials, their market, quality factors, and valuation. Topics include non-nacreous pearls, trends at auction and beyond, and U.S. trade regulations. Fee: $25 for NAJA members, $50 for nonmembers.

WJA Jewelry Loupe Project Deadline: March 10

WJA loupe projectIt’s now or never—today is the last day to apply to the 2024 cohort of this annual business development program for emerging designers. Created by the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA), and sponsored by De Beers, the six-month program starts in April and culminates with a critique in the fall. Each WJA Loupe participant is matched with a seasoned jewelry professional for one-on-one mentorship; the program also includes educational workshops and training.
