JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week of July 6

Share

We’re going to ride out the Fourth of July weekend with…well, let’s just say we’re taking it easy. Which also might be the vibe for the week ahead. And that’s okay. Enjoy it while you can. High jewelry is happening in Paris, though, and JCK editor favorite Angie Crabtree (you may have seen her live painting at JCK Las Vegas) is up to something sparkly on the West Coast. Other than that, fire up your favorite pod (you know which one!), and take a beat.

The industry’s favorite gem portraitist is set to unveil a never-before-seen body of work that has been years in the making, with her first solo museum exhibition, “Garden of Eve.” Colored gems seem to be Angie Crabtree’s focus for the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) show, and the subtext goes very, very deep. From LBMA’s Instagram: “Crabtree explores femininity and how these legacies continue to shape contemporary ideals of beauty and status. She references Eve and the ‘Garden’ as metaphors for innocence lost to material temptation, recasting Eve not as the origin of shame, but as the first to question the cost of desire.” Museum hours and more info here.

LISTEN

The Jewelry District podcast (ongoing)

The Jewelry District podcast and Jewelers Mutual logosIn this week’s episode, JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky and news director Rob Bates share their thoughts and observations from JCK 2025. They discuss the overall mood (upbeat), style trends (bold gold!), and their favorite highlights (the people!) of the annual show in Las Vegas. Gomelsky brings insights from a panel on the pre-owned watch market, and Bates revisits his interview with Botswana president Duma Boko, the De Beers breakfast, and more.
