JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week of July 30

Share

Our best bet for anyone feeling the heat this week is to take a dunk in the local pool, lake, or ocean. If you’re in NYC, a young adult crafting class offers a great opportunity to bond with your kid(s), and maybe even inspire a lifelong passion. And if you are cocooned in a cool space, point your browser at some online auctions—no better way to forget the heat than by indulging in some great jewelry sales!

ATTEND

Jewelry-Making at Brooklyn Public Library: Aug. 4, 4 p.m. ET

Spend an hour creating jewelry, keychains, or other wearable baubles at the Brooklyn Public Library. Ideal for teens, tweens, and young adults, the crafting event is a potential gateway to a lifelong love of making jewelry. Supplies will be provided.

WATCH

If you haven’t already, go see Barbie. Not only is the movie breaking box office records, it’s been influencing jewelry trends for a year now (check out this piece from last August), with no end in sight.

BID

Invaluable Online Auctions (ongoing)

four jade bangles
Group of four jade bangles, estimate $150–$200

If you’re like most of us, the heat in your neck of the woods has reached the unbearable zone. One way to while away the time as you hide indoors with the AC on full blast is to cruise the online auction circuit for good deals. We’re partial to Invaluable, an auction marketplace featuring jewelry sales by somewhat obscure auctioneers, such as this one from Falls Church, Va.
