JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week Of Jan. 8

Share

Happy New Year! We’re still getting acclimated to writing (and thinking) about 2023, and by the likes of it, so is the rest of the industry. That’s why the events schedule for the week ahead is pretty light: There’s a WJA welcome-to-2023 webinar, an IAC online panel discussion on mining, and a couple of not-to-miss exhibitions for those in New York City. Easy does it!

ATTEND

As always, the event will include breakout groups to connect with other WJA members.

For the fourth online discussion, panelists—including IAC president Lisa Koenigsberg; Gabriel Kamundala, a PhD candidate at the University of Zurich; and Peter Oakley of the Royal College of Art—will tackle the topic of how the general population perceives mining communities and extractive projects, and the role that plays in understanding and pursuing social justice.

Fanciful drawings and prints by Michel Angelo Pergolesi (died 1801), an Italian-born artist who specialized in illustrating “the ornaments of the ancients,” gets his proper due at the Cooper Hewitt in Mr. Pergolesi’s Curious Things: Ornament in 18th-Century Britain, which shows how Pergolesi transformed ancient relics—what he called “curious things”—into charming decorative motifs.
