The first week of March brings networking opportunities, branding webinars, Indigenous art exhibitions, and plenty of long, winding conversations about jewelry’s role in art and culture. Given that March is Women’s History Month, many of the events highlighted below also focus on women’s immeasurable contributions to the industry.

Don’t miss “Indigenous Brilliance: The Shape of Jewelry,” a showcase of artistic adornment by Indigenous talents organized by the Santa Fe Indian Market on its official website and run by the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts. The pieces on display celebrate Native American and First Nations cultures and aesthetics in the context of jewelry. Prepare to be blown away.

WJA NY Metro Mix and Mingle Trivia Night: March 1, 7:30 p.m. ET (online)

Womens History Trivia graphicQuizmaster Andy Loud leads a special women’s history–focused evening of trivia at WJA NY Metro’s popular Mix and Mingle Trivia Night. With questions tailored to gem and jewelry lovers and random team assignments designed to make it easy for people to get to know one another, the online event promises to make networking informative and fun.

92Y Talk With Judy Geib: March 3, 1 p.m. ET, $10 (online)

Jonathan Wahl, director of the 92Y Jewelry Center, continues his virtual conversations with contemporary jewelers with New York–based Judy Geib, whose elaborate, gem-rich aesthetic was born of a 20-year career in painting and drawing. Check back every Sunday through mid-March for info about upcoming guests. Each talk is $10 or subscribe to the series of six for $50.

The organizers of NYC Jewelry Week are launching a series of online conversations between industry friends who love jewelry. Dubbed “Jewelry Confidants,” the talks, which take place on Zoom and are later uploaded to YouTube, begin with Melanie Eddy and Lola Fenhirst’s Lola Oladunjoye. Intended to provide behind-the-scenes access to the creators of your favorite jewels, the series is a lot like eavesdropping—with permission.
