It’s Tucson time! For many jewelry lovers, the first week of February, when the finest gem and jewelry dealers in the world converge on this Sonoran Desert city, is the best week of the year. Ethical Gem Fair: Jan. 30–Feb. 2

The Ethical Gem Fair is in full swing at Tucson’s Scottish Rite Cathedral, located at 160 S. Scott Ave., just minutes from the convention center. The eight exhibiting brands include a mix of jewelry designers and gem dealers committed to using traceable materials and invested in responsible sourcing.

AGTA GemFair: Feb. 2–6

The hub of gem show season, the American Gem Trade Association GemFair takes over the Tucson Convention Center for five days of colored stone selling. Don’t forget the seminar series, which features the industry’s foremost experts on all things color.

GJX Show: Feb. 2–7

Across the street from the convention center lies “The Tent,” otherwise known as the Gem & Jewelry Exchange (GJX). Home to mostly international dealers, the show offers a trove of loose gems, fine jewels, and offbeat finds.

Melee the Show: Feb. 4–6

Melee returns to the historic Stillwell House in Tucson, for another showcase of designer jewelry novelties.

OJB Experience: Feb. 4–7

Two days after the Ethical Gem Fair closes at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, the Out of the Jewel Box (OJB) Experience opens at the historic downtown venue. With a dozen exhibitors, the event is mostly a showcase for fine jewelry. Don’t miss the Wednesday-evening welcome party, “Cocktails at the Cathedral,” from 4 to 8 p.m. Sponsored by Jewelers Mutual, it serves as the show’s kickoff and as the platform for a major announcement about OJB’s evolution.
