Because the first round of trade shows offering merchandise geared to the biggest jewelry-buying season of the year are taking place over the next seven days. There’s also an important conference on the calendar, and an inaugural watch week. Time to shop!

AGS Webinar on Mastering Feedback: Aug. 6 (online)

The American Gem Society (AGS) is holding a webinar on “Mastering Feedback: Strategies for Giving and Receiving Constructive Feedback.” Attendees will learn and practice a four-step feedback process, which includes opening with a micro-yes, presenting data points, and sharing impact statements; develop techniques to reduce discomfort when initiating feedback discussions; and practice delivering impact statements and using strategic questions to facilitate mutual understanding and problem-solving, among other critical feedback skills.

Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference: Aug. 9–10 (in person)

At the 2024 Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference, which will be held alongside the InStore Show at the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center in Rosemont, Ill., attendees will delve into the future of sustainable and ethical practices within the industry. The schedule includes sessions on combating corruption in the gemstone industry, legalizing artisanal and small-scale diamond mining in Lesotho, and eliminating mercury use in gold mining, among many others.
