
While summer in the Northern Hemisphere officially ends on Monday, Sept. 22, the week before Labor Day marks a kind of unofficial end, as kids go back to school, a crispness returns to the air, and jewelers start to think in earnest about their holiday showcases .
That’s all by way of saying the events schedule is light this week. Besides attending a museum exhibit in the Big Apple or a buying show in the Big Peach, you’ll probably want to relax poolside with a frothy drink in hand. Here’s to summer 2025’s last gasp!

The American Museum of Natural History’s Allison and Robert Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals again play host to a dazzling jewelry exhibition, this one honoring all things celestial—one of the most enduring motifs throughout jewelry history. More than 60 pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels will be on display in “Cosmic Splendor,” divided into these themes: “Take Me Away,” “Across the Universe,” “Lunar Wonders,” “Our Star,” “Beyond Earth,” “Burning Bright,” and “Lucky Stars.” (Free with museum admission)
