As we barrel toward Labor Day weekend, the jewelry events schedule remains light. Retailers in the New York area looking to explore diamond sourcing opportunities in India can get a taste of the experience at an exciting event in midtown Manhattan. Otherwise, take note of a couple of key deadlines for competitions and awards this week.

The Jewelry District Podcast, Episode 102 (ongoing)
On the latest episode of The Jewelry District, JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky and news director Rob Bates discuss the hottest fall trends, including the ongoing Barbie-fueled obsession with pink, chunky collar necklaces, and playful jewels inspired by childhood toys (think Rubik’s Cubes, robots, and all things ’80s). Equally newsworthy is the luxury world’s laser focus on bigger, better brick-and-mortar stores—a high-end land grab that belies the digital-first future predicted during the pandemic. Vic and Rob also talk about the recent sale of the International Gemological Institute and how the world’s most elite watch brands are tuning in to the hype-building power of hip-hop and electronic dance music.
