On Thursday, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is set to open “Going Underground: The Jewels of Bernhard Schobinger.” The exhibition traces the radical career of Swiss avant-garde artist Bernhard Schobinger, who has created some of the most distinctive, subversive, and influential jewelry of the past five decades, using scavenged and alternative materials to reveal their hidden histories. The first U.S. exhibition to examine Schobinger’s career, “Going Underground” features pivotal pieces of experimental jewelry and selected sculptures from 1968 to the present, with necklaces, bracelets, and rings drawn from prominent private collections and the museum’s own holdings.

VicenzaOro: The Jewellery Boutique Show opens in Italy’s capital of gold this Friday. For more than 70 years, the show has served as the beating heart of the Italian gold jewelry industry, home to designers, brands, findings suppliers, technology providers, packaging companies, equipment vendors, vintage watch dealers, gemstone merchants, accessory makers, and more. Come for the jewelry, stay for the CIBJO Centenary Congress—where JCK’s Karen Dybis will be reporting live from and which is  set to feature Gareth Penny (former De Beers Group CEO and now one of the mining company’s prospective new owners) as a featured speaker.
