JCK Editor, Publisher to Appear at GIA Jewelry Career Fair and Open House



The event is the only time that the Carlsbad, Calif., campus is open to the public without an appointment

JCK ‘s editor-in-chief, Victoria Gomelsky, and publisher, Mark Smelzer, will participate in two panels at the Gemological Institute of America’s Jewelry Career Fair and Open House this year.

The annual event takes place Oct. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the GIA’s Carlsbad, Calif., campus. It marks the only time each year that the campus is open to the public without an appointment.

From 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., GIA president and CEO Susan Jacques will moderate “Job Success in Today’s Market.” Panelists are Melanie Goldfiner of Rahaminov Diamonds Inc.; Martin Katz, founder and CEO of Martin Katz, Ltd.; JCK publisher Mark Smelzer; and Mary Todd-McGinnis, vice president of sales for Ben Bridge Jeweler.

From 10:30 a.m. to noon, JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky (pictured) will moderate “Creative Careers.” Panelists are Jen Cullen-Williams, managing director of the Luxury Brand Group; Danielle Miele, jewelry blogger and creator of Gem Gossip; Mark Schneider, designer and owner of Mark Schneider Design; and Jordan Tabach-Bank, owner and CEO of Beverly Loan Co. and New York Loan Co.

Companies recruiting at the event include Diamonds Direct, Leo Hamel Fine Jewelers, Shane Co., Signet Jewelers, the RealReal, and Tiffany & Co.
