J.C. Penney has named Stephanie Plaines (pictured) its newest chief financial officer.

Plaines will lead all financial activities across the enterprise, and work to improve business performance and profitability.

“J.C. Penney is investing for the long-term while executing our customer-focused strategy to enhance shopping experiences and build brand loyalty,” said CEO Marc Rosen in a statement.

Rosen joined the company last October.

Plaines most recently served as chief financial officer at Jones Lang LaSalle, a global commercial real estate services company. She also worked as a senior executive at Starbucks, Walmart, and Ahold Delhaize, among others.

“I’m excited to join such an iconic American company during this time of pivotal transformation,” said Plaines in a statement.
