Jack Heuer and Kwiat to receive JIC Gem Awards

The Jewelry Information Center has announced the recipients of the association’s fifth annual Gem Awards, which recognizes some of the most prestigious fine jewelry and watch companies and journalists for their outstanding achievements in raising the visibility and status of the industry.

Jack Heuer, of Tag Heuer, will be honored with the JIC Gem Award for Lifetime Achievement. Kwiat, a family-owned business celebrating its 100th anniversary will receive the JIC Gem Award for Enduring Achievement, recognizing the company’s success in marketing and product design across generations. The JIC Gem Award for Excellence in Journalism will be bestowed on Jill Newman, a noted jewelry and watch writer and contributing editor of Robb Report. JIC’s Gem Awards will be presented during a gala dinner on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Cipriani 42nd St. in New York City.

Now a well-established event and annual gathering of industry leaders and professionals, Gem Awards honors retailers, manufacturers, and media who are leaders in their field. Some 600 people from the jewelry industry in the U.S., Europe, and throughout the world attend event each year.

In addition to honoring the recipients of the Gem Awards, the event celebrates JIC’s tradition of more than 60 years of providing public relations and marketing services to the jewelry industry. The Gem Awards committee, made up of industry leaders, determines the selected honorees each year. The co-chairmen of this year’s committee are Steven Kaiser, of Kaiser Time, Inc. and John Green of Lux Bond & Green.
