Israel Out in Force at IIJS

The ambassador of Israel in India Mark Sofer and the consul general Orna Sagiv are visiting the India International Jewelry Show (being held until Aug. 11) as guests of the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies.

The Israeli Diamond Industry Pavilion, organized by IDI, will feature 24 leading Israeli diamond manufacturers and exporters are exhibiting their loose diamonds and diamond jewelry collections at the show. The Israeli pavilion is one of seven national pavilions.

It is the first time the Israeli diamond industry is attending the show. IDI has declared 2008 as the “Year of India,” due to its importance as a bilateral trading partner, and is encouraging Israeli companies to explore business opportunities in this rapidly developing domestic market.

“The Indian consumer market shows tremendous potential. Indians traditionally have designed, created and consumed diamond and gem-studded jewelry,” said Moti Ganz . IDI chairman and president of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association “We are very excited to participate in this show and look forward to creating mutually beneficial business ties with the Indian diamond industry. “

Eli Avidar IDI managing director added, “From our meetings with Indian diamond and jewelry merchants we know that there is a great deal of interest in the Israeli goods. … We hope to enhance our ties with the Indian industry and make new connections.”

IDI’s image booth, 6W092, which is located within the national pavilion, provides potential buyers with information about the Israeli Diamond Industry and the advantages of doing business with Israel.
