The Israel Diamond Exchange has named Eli Avidar (pictured, right) its managing director.
Avidar is also managing director of the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) and will stay in that role. He replaces Moti Besser.
Avidar, who has headed IDI since January 2007, represented Israel as consul-general for Hong Kong and Macau from 2001 to 2005. In 1999 he served as foreign policy adviser to minister of foreign affairs Ariel Sharon.
