Inhorgenta Munich Debuts Smartwatch Section

Trade fair Inhorgenta Munich is planning a new section for smartwatches, making it the first industry fair to do so.

The German watch and jewelry fair also plans several educational segments on the high-tech devices, including an overview of available devices and the market.

A fair statement cites an analysis that shows that 6 million smartwatches and fitness wristbands were sold in the first half of 2014. In the first six months of 2013, that number did not reach 1 million.

“Some of our exhibitors will be represented in this innovative segment with new and exciting models for the jewelry and watches trade,” said Renate Wittgenstein, show product manager, in a statement.

The next Inhorgenta Munich takes place Feb. 20–23, 2015.
