I can’t help but feel as if I missed a really big opportunity to do Halloween right this year. Absent of an amazing, original idea (to be honest, I didn’t even stop to give it much thought until it was too late), my “costume” consisted of a Hocus Pocus sweatshirt, accessorized with pockets filled with candy corn.
It was baby’s first Halloween in our house, which would explain why I feel more let down than usual that I missed out on some great family photo opportunities—it also explains why I was just too darn tired to make anything happen this year (though if you want to see baby girl’s plethora of Halloween-themed outfits, here they are).
So while I must admit that some of these images stir the slightest bit of envy in me this go-round (Instagram really can be the worst in that way), I’m also wildly appreciative of how amazing the members of our industry are. This year’s variety included some incredibly epic getups, requiring an amount of creativity and DIY talent the likes of which can be found only in a community like ours.
From individual standouts to family ensembles—even the pets got in on the fun!—here are some of my favorite Halloween costumes from this year. Doesn’t it seem like every year just gets better and better? At this rate, I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings.
