Indian Jewelry Designers Create a Buzz in Hollywood

Four of India’s brightest jewelry designers are making a splash in Hollywood, as their pieces made appearances at this year’s 84thAnnual Academy Awards. Designers Vijayshree Sovani and V. Saravanan saw their jewels modeled on the red carpet, while Nejal Rajesh Megta and Reena Ahluwalia—winners of Rio Tinto Diamond’s jewelry design competition—had their spectacular creations showcased at an exclusive Oscars suite in Los Angeles.

Sovani’s diamond cuff bracelet, The Sands of Time, was seen on the wrist of actress Tabatha Coffey as she hosted the TV Guide Channel’s Oscar coverage. The World of Champagne earrings from V. Saravanan looked dazzling on CSI star Barbara Eve Harris as she made her rounds on the red carpet.

Nejal Rajesh Megta and Reena Ahluwalia had their winning designs displayed for celebrities and stylists to admire in an exclusive Oscar suite. They were two of nine winners of Rio Tinto Diamond’s jewelry design competition.

Fabergé Unveils the Romanov NecklaceFaberge's Romanov Necklace

Legendary master design house Fabergé has unveiled the Romanov necklace, a historically inspired, contemporary collar composed of magnificent emeralds and diamonds. The piece is a reworking of an early Fabergé jewel, re-created and modernized from a design dated to 1885.

The challenging design process took two months in collaboration with a leading Parisian high-jewelry workshop followed by 14 months of meticulous hand workmanship. Crafted in white gold, the piece features 79 exceptional-quality emeralds totaling 186.85 ct. t.w. and includes specially-cut sugarloaf cabochon stones. The single pear-shape drop measures 30.65 ct. Overall, the necklace is set with 2,225 gemstones—including 1,991 round diamonds and 151 rose-cut diamonds. 

A statement released by Fabergé said the following: “The ravishing Romanov emerald and diamond necklace evokes the unrivaled bejeweled splendor of the Romanovs, embodies the artistry and craftsmanship associated with the legendary name of Fabergé and at the same time perfectly expresses the essence of today’s powerful femininity.”

Indian Retailer Gitanjali Receives Luxury eRetailer of the Year AwardGintanjali Group accepts award
