International Gemological Institute (IGI) recently opened a new lab in Surat, India.
Varda Shine, managing director of Diamond Trading Company, joined the celebration on April 14th, and was honored with IGI’s "First Lady of Diamond World" Award.
"India has seen a constant growth in demand for diamond jewelry over the last ten years," Shine said. "With the Indian wedding business valued at $20 billion, more and more consumers are moving to diamond buying. IGI setting up an international certifying facility in Surat, the diamond hub of India, will certainly help boost consumer confidence."
