The International Diamond Manufacturers Association ended
its 2011 Presidents’ Meeting in Botswana with a tour of the Jwaneng, the
country’s largest diamond mine.
The mine is jointly owned by the Debswana company, the
Republic of Botswana, and De Beers Centenary AG.
A group of 40 received a briefing on the mine from section
geologist Martin Robertsm who told them about the planned extension of the
mine.
Roberts told thee group that the removal of millions of tons
of overburden will extend the mine’s life to around 2025.
