IDL Issues Arabic Diamond Cert

Dubai-based International Diamond Laboratories has become the world’s first issuer of Arabic-language Diamond Certificates. The first such certificate was presented by H.H. Sheikh Majid bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to Tamjid Abdullah, deputy managing director of Damas Jewellery, for a 24-ct. pear shaped diamond.

IDL, an initiative of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, provides diamond certification services from its headquarters in the UAE, and branch offices in Antwerp and Mumbai.

“Creativity and customization are of high strategic significance for IDL as they enable us to build on our service offering to better serve our clients,” said Ahmed bin Sulayem, vice chairman of IDL. “With diamonds becoming increasingly popular in the Middle East region, the first ever Arabic language Diamond Certificate is an adequate representation of IDL’s innovative services, and reflects our commitment to Arab consumers.”

IDL’s Arabic language certificates are recognized worldwide. For international trade purposes, the certificate mentions the diamond grade and color in English, while the remaining aspects such as the weight, cut, and clarity are listed in Arabic.
